Maya's first haircut

Today we took the girls to Hair Diddle Diddle:) It was time for Kylie to get a trim seeing as her last trim was right before she started PreK3! And Maya needed a few scraggles trimmed up. Maya was still totally bald at her first birthday, but her hair has really grown in the past few months but is growing a bit mulletish, lol.. She was less than thrilled about the whole process, she kept insisting NO :(
So the picture is one for the memory book, thats my Maya!! I did not get a good pic afterwards, but will try in the morning.

And Kylie..

Maya pee pee'd!

Maya has been practicing on the potty, had a few accidental pee's in it, but tonight was her first time she intentionally went! She was excited, I was excited! She got an Elmo sticker on a piece of paper as a reward. I told her we could put more stickers on it when she did it again. She instead thought she would sleep with the piece of paper:) Yay for Maya!!

Merry Christmas!

As Kylie described it today 'the best Christmas ever!' She had a great day, well we all did but Todd and I are quite tired. The girls were up around 345am after the 4 of us were in bed together for 30 mins, I left Todd with Kylie and I went to deal with Maya. She thought we should be up reading books and singing songs, I however didn't think that was such a great idea for that time of morning, so she cryed in my arms for awhile, finally falling asleep after 6am and Kylie was up before 7.
Both the girls ended up getting new baby dolls today, Kylie got her pink recorder flute from Santa and Kylie had wrapped up her yellow one from last year as her gift to Maya. A few new kitchen toys, and both got scooters. We spent the night at Grama and Papa's house last night, spent the morning there, came home Santa had come here too, then went to a friends house for a turkey dinner.

Grama read the girls Christmas stories and told the Nativity story

Kylie left oats out for the reindeer, or rather Rudolph

The girls tearing into it.

Dinner with friends, as Kylie said 'the best Christmas dinner ever!'

Some fall pics

Again this year..

No pics of Maya with Santa.. It was a no way Jose situation!! I have tried over the last few weeks to let Kylie talk to Santa with Maya right there watching, hoping she would warm up. But last night when the time came to see him, she was on to me. If she got closer than 5 feet she freaked out, she likes him from afar though:) Oh well no biggie..
Here is Kylie with her friend Santa!

Santa's present

Kylie is very excited about Christmas this year. She is bursting at the seams everyday with something new. Yesterday she told me Santa needed a present and she needed to wrap it for him. I blew her off telling her we had lots of time as Christmas was still a month away. As I was sorting through decorations she rambled on about it again and then she was gone. She came back a bit later with a framed picture from her dresser.
This picture from her 2nd bday.:

K- I need to wrap this for Santa
M- You don't like that picture anymore? That belongs on your dresser.
K- I need to give it to Santa. It is very old and I will miss it a little. But its ok. I can go visit it at Santa's workshop. He has a desk. I can just look at it on his desk when I miss it. This is me very long time ago.
:)

Happy Thanksgiving

Kylie's Election Day

Kylie is campaigning this week for her favorite canidate. The choices are Chocolate Ice cream or Vanilla Ice cream. Today she made a sign to help her campaign and the election is being held friday.
This is what her sign said..

'Vote for Chocolate it makes good pudding too'

LOL, too cute. In her ramblings about it she said it makes you 'healthy and strong' and 'Jesus likes chocolate, vanilla too, but he'd vote for chocolate because everyone likes it'. Cracked me up!!

Halloween pics

Mama and Papa kept the tradition going and came over lastnight. Daddy and Papa dressed up and took the girls trick or treating. Kylie was a mermaid, Maya was Elmo, Daddy was a fisherman to catch the mermaid, and Papa was a hunter. Quite the crew!

Kylie had a school party today too, she dresses up as a princess for that because the mermaid outfit was a bit big and hard to play in!

Thursday night Todd and the girls carved the pumpkin before bed. Kylie insisted it have a circle nose :)

My friend Desiree Chapman took these pictures of the girls last weekend at the Dallas Arboretum. Check out her blog http://www.justoneyearphotography.blogspot.com/

The 2 year old diaper change

The routine, the tantrums, the determination to get they're way, the kicking, the flailing, all of these turn simple 45 second event into a full body on body, kicking and screaming, 10 minute ordeal. I guess if I just let her have her way she will eventually get tired of the soggy stinking diaper she has been wearing the last 12 hours as she slept but honestly I can't stand the smell, the soggyness when I pick her up, and having to deal with a nasty diaper rash later.
So what we have is this event. Now I have tried to make it her idea, 'pick a spot Maya', 'lets go get your diaper changed Maya', 'want to go get the wipes Maya'. For awhile it worked now we are too the stage where I chase her down, pick her up under the arms at an arms length as she proceeds to scream and kick, but I don't get kicked because I keep her at a distance :) I then lay her down, hand her the wipe to hold take the diaper off.. now at this point everything seems ok, now comes the difficult part.. getting a new diaper on. You see she has an opinion about it all. first the way you wipe, then alot of the time she wants to decide whether she wants a cloth or diposable diaper. Then the flailing, contorting, swinging every which way begins. Evenually after all of it you get on the diaper, it may not be staight, even, or in one piece but it is on. Boy I wish she would potty train.

Twins for the weekend..

So many people say they want/wanted to have twins, I can honestly say I really never had that desire. I guess in my practical way I knew it would be ALOT of work. Well my dear friend has two boys very close in age to our two girls. She and her husband needed to go on a business trip this weekend so I am watching the boys for the weekend. So in a way its like having two sets of twins running around the house. Kylie and Nick are both 4 and Alex and Maya are 2. I should be an interesting weekend!

Preschool has started!

It is hard to believe that summer has gone and the school year has started. A few months ago I was anxious for Kylie to be back in school, but then summer happened. We had a great time together, it is somewhat sad to me that here we are coming up on fall. As much as I know how much she loves school and being with 'friends' a part of me just wants to keep her home, she is growing up so fast! She is going 3 days a week for 4 hours a day. A good break for her and I. Maya, my sweet little baby is now 2!! Unreal that she is 2! She started MDO today 2 days a week. Maya recently has been having trouble with some separation anxiety from Kylie, so sweet but so heartbreaking. She just wants to be close to her sister. Maybe I should be holding on to these memories and videotaping them, to show her when she is a teenager and not getting along with her sister, haha. Well here are my sweet chickadee's...

Ballerina!

Kylie started ballet today. I am not sure who was more nervous, her nervous with excitement or me nervous about flubbing something up and disappointing her. It all worked out great, she had a good first class. She was so cute!
She is on the left side of these pics, hard to take pics through the one way glass.. I will get better pics next week of her with her shoes on.

Weaned..

With all the happenings this week with Kylie in the hospital and the craziness surrounding it, it appears Maya has weaned without a peep. It is a bit sad to me really, it was a special time that only she and I had, it forced me to sit and be still with her at bed time and relax. I had fully intended to wean around a year, but she was still so high needs and getting up multiple times a night, so I thought 13 months is ok, then around 14 months it became only night time feedings before bed, and then not even every night. Somehow it turned into 20 months!! It is hard to believe that my baby girl is, well a toddler and might I add she is so darn cute! I am grateful I did decide to nurse her and push through the tough times, there were definitely days early on when a bottle of formula sounded like heaven, but now knowing she is allergic to milk I am glad I didn’t. I just hope and pray that she remains as healthy as she is and maybe she might be able to dodge Celiacs.
I love you my sweet Maya J!

Kylie's hospital stay..

Here are some pics from Kylie’s hospital stay. She became dehydrated after her surgery. I had already typed the whole story out and then ‘lil miss Maya came along and hit the ‘Esc’ button and cleared my screen…
